Airtech’s participation at the JEC Composite show, which was held on March 29 through 31 in Paris, was declared as a big success, as the number of visitors at the Airtech booth increased by 40% related to 2010. “The number of new business opportunities was substantially higher than in the last two years” Wolfgang Stratmann, the plant manager of Airtech Europe in Luxembourg said. ”The enquiries presented from our customers show that the FRP-materials are on its way to be established in almost all industrial areas. It further shows that Airtech could reinforce its position as a leader in vacuum bagging and composite tooling technology by investing in the right material developments and production methods.” he continued.

Highlight of Airtech’s latest products at the JEC show included innovations for composite tooling as :

– Beta Prepreg, finalist in the JEC Innovation Awards, is based on 21st Century Benzoxazine resin and toughening technology. It can be stored at room temperature for up to 6 months with no loss of tack and delivers superior laminate properties compared to conventional epoxy and BMI systems. High glass transition temperature (218 °C) and service stability at high temperature ensures long tool life.

– TB G48 is a cost effective high temperature carbon fibre tooling board for mould support, jigs and fixtures. It will reduce the tooling cost and improve the performance.

The new NC ply cutting machine allows producing all requested shapes on almost all vacuum bagging materials. This machine, with a total surface of 216 m² is an important element to meet the permanently growing demands for kitted products. Customized vacuum bagging materials will significantly reduce tooling cycle time and increase the part quality.

As every year, the daily resin infusion demonstrations using custom engineered vacuum bagging materials and new solutions for hollow stiffeners were very successful.

Airtech was strongly present in the “JEC Innovation showcase”, being finalist in the JEC Innovation Awards with the Beta Prepreg for tooling.

For Airtech Europe it was a special participation to the JEC this year as it was a good opportunity to celebrate together with its partners another milestone: 20th Anniversary of Airtech Europe in Luxembourg. In his speech, Bill Dahlgren, the founder of AAMG reaffirmed the commitment of Airtech in the composite market:

“We honour the past, but we always launch the future!”

Airtech wants to thank the organizers of the JEC for the quality of the show and all the visitors to its booth!
