Grand Prix en Sciences_

In cooperation with the FNR and several private sponsors, the “Section des Sciences Naturelles, physiques et mathématiques de l’Institut Grand-ducal” is inviting Luxembourgish and Luxembourg-based researchers to apply for the ‘Grand Prix en Sciences de l’Institut Grand-Ducal’. The winner will receive a 5000 Euro prize.

The prize has been awarded annually since 2010, each year recognising one researcher for their complete work or an exceptional discovery. The prize is awarded in five different fields, each year a different field, bearing the name of the main sponsor:

The 2010 prize – “Prix Paul WURTH” – was awarded in the field of physics
The 2011 prize – “Prix de la Bourse de Luxembourg” – was awarded in the field of mathematics
The 2012 prize – “Prix FEIDT” – was awarded in the field of geology
The 2013 prize – “Prix CACTUS” – was awarded in the field of biology
The 2014 prize – “Prix Paul METZ” – was awarded in the field of chemistry
In 2015, this same cycle of awards restarted with the second edition of the prize for physics.
This year, the “Grand Prix en sciences mathématiques de l’Institut Grand-Ducal / Prix de la Bourse de Luxembourg” will be awarded for the second time in the field of mathematics.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the award, applicants must be:

researchers of Luxembourgish nationality;
researchers currently working in Luxembourg;
researchers who have previously worked in Luxembourg.
The prize is currently endowed with 5000 EUR and will be awarded during an academic session on Saturday, 19 November 2016.

How to apply

All applications must be submitted by 31 March at the latest, by postal and electronic mail to Professor emeritus Pierre SECK, Président de la Section des Sciences de l’Institut Grand-ducal, 13, rue Tony Neuman L-2241 Luxembourg pierre.seck@uni.lu.

The application must contain an application letter, a complete curriculum vitae of the candidate as well as a document describing the work and the results that are to be considered by the jury.
