Prof. François Valentiny was born in 1953 in Remerschen, Luxembourg. He studied architecture at the Ecole d’Architecture de Nancy and the University of Applied Arts Vienna in France. In 1980, he formed a partnership with Hubert Hermann, the founding of the architects’ office Hermann & Valentiny in Luxembourg and Vienna. After that, the office won many competitions and implemented a huge number of projects in Australia, Luxembourg and Germany. Now, Prof. François Valentiny is a married man and a father to a child.

Since 1990, Prof. François Valentiny has been living in his grandparents’ house in Moselle, the exact place where he was born. In 1997, he founded Hermann & Valentiny et Associés SARL, and in 2002 he founded and published the first Luxembourg architecture magazine Adato. And he was also the editor of it. Besides, he also created the stage design and dress design for many theatres. In particular, the Luxembourg Pavilion in World Expo 2010 Shanghai China was his work. This pavilion interprets the Chinese meaning of “Luxembourg” into a name of construction – a castle in the forest. Moreover, it has been his outstanding representative work since then.
