investigations into the production of space.
capital architecture is a research project by robert thum (hochschule trier) and harald trapp (university of east london) on the connections between karl marx and architecture including leading figures from the areas of architecture, political theory, economics, sociology and art.

are marx’s ideas still relevant today? might marx’s methods be a useful tool to investigate the mutual relationship between architecture and its production in a global real estate industry?

“capital architecture” derives from this question and researches the status quo and possible lines of progression through a series of interviews with leading figures from the areas of architecture, political theory, economics, sociology and art.the project, including an installation, exhibition and publication is curated, organised and designed by prof. robert thum, university of trier, and the architect and sociologist dr. harald trapp, university of east london.
